Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Chemical and Biological Directions in Shymkent has been operating since February 25, 2013. The total number of students as of February 1, 2014 was 594 people. The school is designed to ensure high-quality growth in education, the introduction of innovations in the educational process, and advanced training of teaching staff. All conditions have been created for this.
The school building is a facility consisting of three floors, fourteen blocks, designed for 720 people. The full-day school will provide three meals a day in a 360-seat cafeteria. The school is divided into several components – dormitory, educational, laboratory and language blocks. In the dormitory wing there is a dormitory for 120 places where children from remote areas of the region can live. The educational block includes 65 classrooms, including 18 language classrooms, 5 chemistry and biology classrooms, 9 mathematics classrooms, 4 physics classrooms, geography, history, ecology classrooms and others. Almost all of them are equipped with interactive whiteboards and laptops. The school also has classrooms for individual lessons, technical modeling, art technology, psychological relief, integration of pedagogical and information technologies, several universal classrooms and lecture halls.
Expanded laboratories of physics, chemistry, biology, nanotechnology, robotics provide young researchers with the opportunity to work on the most advanced equipment from Kazakhstan, Russia, Great Britain, Germany and the USA in collaboration with such global brands as PASCO, PHYWE and others. In addition, company representatives teach school specialists how to work with new equipment.
A spacious multifunctional assembly hall with 360 seats is available for holding various cultural events. Its peculiarity is that the spectator area is transformed into a professional choreographic hall.
The library fund of the Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools also included the book depository of the school in Shymkent. The library is equipped with teaching aids, golden copies of classical and fiction literature with an extensive database of domestic publications. The library will also become an information center where children can acquire skills in searching, selecting and analyzing data.
To conduct physical education classes and work sports sections, there are small and large gyms, a gym, a climbing wall, a football field, basketball and volleyball courts. Various competitions, competitions and city championships are held here. At the same time, students attend clubs: choreography, music, gymnastics, chess, checkers, togyzkumalak, robotics, home chemistry, miracles through a lens, glass painting, design and modeling, floristry, young director, technical creativity, elective courses in preparation for passing IELTS.
The region’s leading teaching staff were selected on a general competitive basis for the Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Chemical and Biological Studies in Shymkent. In addition, the school employs 3 foreign teachers in the following subjects: chemistry, biology, mathematics, art, physics, computer science, global perspectives and English.
At the moment, the total number of employees of the Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Chemical and Biological Studies is 221 people. The number of teaching staff (teachers, curators, educators) is 150 people. Of these, 100 are subject teachers. All teaching staff have higher education. By language of subject teaching: 66 teachers teach in one language, 33 teachers teach in two languages, and 6 teachers teach in three languages.
